Nakashima Style Brutalist Live Edge Redwood Burl Root Stump Slab Coffee Table.

Nakashima Style Brutalist Live Edge Redwood Burl Root Stump Slab Coffee Table.

Unique Redwood Live Edge Coffee in brutalist form. Highly Figured & Rare Old Growth Redwood Slab and Matching Large Redwood Stump Base. This is a very "Organic" live edge redwood burl coffee table. The free flowing shapes of these live redwood slabs were very popular in the 1960's. This particular piece is a free form design with characteristics of these mid century naturally sculptured tables.

This dazzling George Nakashima style redwood slab top is supported by a massive, marbled burl knotted root. An awesome representation of a live-edge cross section slab coffee table. The amorphic free form edges are raw (natural). The rugged, natural, material top (professionally waxed and oiled) is beautifully supported by a massive, gnarly, expansive burled root stump. The stump has also been brushed with poly-oil satin clear coat preserving the texture and natural look. Light ignites this table, dancing through the brilliant hues of patina, illuminating the warm honey-red colored wood.

Crafted from a commanding slab of live-edge redwood, this coffee table is a dramatic study in natural artistry and timeless craft. The richly figured grain, with its honeyed warmth and undulating contours, bears the tactile history of old-growth wood.

In excellent vintage condition, the surface finish remains lustrous and well-preserved. Minor natural irregularities in the wood affirm its authenticity and artisanal origin, celebrating the character of its live-edge form.
